PinoyDirectory.com Tops Yahoo and Google Lists of Pinoy Business

A search for "pinoy business" in Yahoo search engine today puts PinoyDirectory.com at the top of 3,370,000 hits. A similar search in Google has only 1,210,000 hits but PinoyDirectory.com is also listed at the top.

This is a major victory for Ray Colorado, president of Pinoy Business Directory, who has invested enormous amount of creative energy to transform PinoyDirectory.com into a national Internet brand recognized by Filipinos in America.

"This is good news. Sometimes I'm afraid to see how we are ranked by the search engines, but this is a welcome news," Ray Colorado says. "Of course, this does not mean every Filipino respects our brand already. We're working on that. But this should bring us closer to making our Pinoy Business Directory a legitimate national service."

"I tried selling our Pinoy Business Directory in California two years ago. That trip was a dismal failure. I spent a lot of time and money with little result. Our flagship sites then, PinoyTexas.com and AsianTexas.com, were popular in Texas but not in California. Because the domain names had Texas in them, Filipinos in California thought Pinoy Business Directory was meant for Texas only."

His trip in California two years ago convinced Ray Colorado that PinoyDirectory.com should be the domain carrying Pinoy Business Directory. He worked on it. Among his many changes were:

Move National Calendar of Events from PinoyEvents.com to PinoyDirectory.com
Move Community Bulletin from AsianTexas.com to PinoyDirectory.com
Add Flash graphics to member sites in PinoyDirectory.com
Research and write new articles for PinoyDirectory.com, and
Add links to directory member sites in the pages of articles

"To Filipinos in Texas, I will always be Mr. PinoyTexas," he explains. "But some members of our directory aspire to have a national market. Rather than be crabby and attack their ambition, we need to find a way to help. The domain name PinoyTexas.com, although we love it and intend to maintain it, is not the vehicle that would make business owners in other states want to ride with us," he adds.

Asked if the top ranking means he can relax better now, he replied, "Yes, a little bit better but not really. Pinoy Business Directory is not yet making money, although we hope to be in the black soon so we can guarantee continuity of our services."

He adds, "Besides, if you search for "Filipino Business Directory" in Yahoo, of the 1,220,000 sites listed, we are only #3 and #6 in the list, not #1. Decent but not the top. If you search for the same words in Google you will get 3,880,000 sites listed. The bad news is in that list our sites make the top 100 but not top 10. We still have lots of work to do. The good news is we know what to do."
