Sendong Victims Need Help

To Whom it may Concern: The city of Cagayan de Oro (CDO) and surrounding areas in northern Mindanao have been devastated by Typhoon Sendong. In addition to the 300-400 fatalities, many times this number have been left totally homeless, their homes and all worldly possessions swept away in the floods. Some 80 to 90 families have been given temporary shelter in the Iglesia Filipina Independiente (Philippine Independent Church) in the Kauswagan area of CDO. Over 200 men, women and children have escaped the storm with their lives but little else remaining to them. Fr. Horace B. Yangyang is beseeching the Filipino community in the USA to send help in any form possible. The church effort is in particular need of the following: Food (including canned goods, noodles, anything transportable) Used clothing and shoes for men, women, children and babies Kitchen Utensils (all kinds) Generic medicines (unopened OTC meds of all kinds) Sleeping mats, bags and/or linens And, of course, financial help is also needed.
