Mrs.
Philippines of North Texas 2003 Charity Fund-raiser
"Women:
Pioneering the Entrepreneural Spirit"
The
Mrs. Philippines of North Texas Charity Fund-raiser is not just an objective
and audited campaign for money. It is also a celebration of the many wonderful
facets of women, particularly the Filipino woman.
The
charity fund-raiser strives to showcase stories of women, who have time
and again, shown the extraordinary values and qualities that have won
freedom for nations, that have afforded comfort to the needy, and have
wielded unity within the family and the community.
This
year, we would like to focus our story on the tens of thousand of Filipinas
behind every sari-sari store, behind the hot stove of every turo-turo,
behind every bus of merchandise carried around as they conduct the business
of their "hulog-hulugan" or "paiyakan" business. They
are our unsung heroines who do the extra mile to augment their family's
resources, while nurturing the souls and bodies of their families. Today,
they continue to pioneer the entrepreneurial spirit and the future.
The
endeavor we have, the Mrs. Philippines of North Texas, is a testimony
to the Filipina's entrepreneurial spirit. Since 1989, when it was first
launched until today, we have Filipino women who have taken on the task
of raising funds to augment the community's resources to meet the need
for scholarships for its high school students, offer free medical outreach
events to everyone in need and to open its doors to a viable physical
center.
Our
lead fund-raisers are our symbols and representatives of our unsung sisters
back home because they have taken on the extra task of nurturing the whole
community to participate in this charity endeavor. To them, our salutations
as they pioneer the entrepreneurial spirit into the future! |
