  2006 PRDC TENNIS OPEN

A post MEMORIAL DAY Tennis marathon, the 2006 PRDC Tennis Open, will be held on June 4, 2006 from 8:00 am till 4 pm at the Arlington Tennis Center located along Matlock Road corner of Mayfield Road in Arlington, Texas

A sole winner will hoist the trophy with the top 14 scoring players receiving individual recognition plaques and gifts will highlight the event after all matches have been played in hard court surface of the Arlington tennis center. The event is under the sponsorship of Arlington Tennis association for the second year.

The tennis marathon is dubbed “ the only Progressive Recreational Doubles competition” to be played in a ladies-men’s-mixed doubles match, combining all recreational players regardless of rating, gender and age. The open was conceived by the Chairpersons ( Edgar Santiago and Linda French) of Philippine Republic Day Celebration. Aside from PRDC Tennis Open other sports such as Golf, Bowling and Basketball will be played during the month of June

The Philippines observes its 108th independence during the month of June this year. It annually celebrates its independence day on June 12. The flag raising ceremony will lead the opening of the entire celebration.

The event is capped in a colourful Gala Night slated on June 17 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel which will showcase the Philippine’s cultural talents and the donning of the traditional national costume of the country by attendees of the event. Various hues and colors of the country’s “barong tagalog” and “terno” for women will observe during the evening’s festivity.

As a prelude to the Gala night, a festival of culture called “ Pista Sa Nayon” will be held at the Bear Creek Park in Euless., Texas. A taste of the Philippines will usher guests to have a delightful taste of various Pilipino cooked dishes and food items.

Santacruzan, the traditional parade of sacred saints revered and honoured by beautiful maidens will cap the day.

2006 Progressive Recreational Doubles Competition June 4, 2006 Sunday

The PRDC Tennis is open to everyone. Ladies, Men’s, Youth, Seniors, Enthusiasts. Regardless of rating if you are at least considered a tennis player, then you are part of the general group we are enjoining in this tournament. The format: Progressive of 1 set of 8 games only. Each player in a match gets to serve only but 2 times. No tiebreak. At deuce, receiver will decide who receives the serve. Keep Individual Scores after each set of 8 games. Maximum individual score per match is 24 (8 points per set)

Rules:

  1. Open to Female, Male, Youth, Adults, and seniors.
  2. Must know at least how to play tennis (how to hit the ball back in the court)
  3. Must register and pay for your participation. ($25.00 per person)
  4. First Paid First Come Basis. Priority playing in court.
  5. Each player will be assigned a number upon receiving payment. (The earlier the number, the better the player will have chances of knowing their opponents)
  6. Four players will be assigned IN CORE QUAD according to number assignments
  7. Each group will rotate partners during the play.
  8. Each player in a quad will only but serves twice. Keep your individual scores. (You will be provided with a piece of Card to write down your scores.)
  9. First 40 players are guaranteed a spot to play continuous matches of at least 4 hours or 4matches against different partners and different opponents.
  10. Each match will last approximately about 45-50 minutes
  11. The pairing can be female-male versus male-male, or male-male versus female-female, youth-senior against, female-female, or male-male against senior youth, or youth-female against male-senior, etc.
  12. The pairing will be done as follows (samples): 1,2 versus 3,4 (1,3 versus 2,4), 1,4 versus 2,3) 5,6 versus 7, 8 (5,7 versus 6,8) (5,8,versus 6,7) 9,10 versus 11,12 (9,11 versus 10,12) (9,12 versus 10,121) 13,14,versus 15,16 (13,15 versus 14,16) (13,16 versus 14,1) 5 (17,18 versus 19,20 (17,19 versus 18,20) (17,20 versus 18,19)
  13. Each player will have different partners all throughout the tournament.
  14. Everyone will have a total of 4 matches to play with 12 different partners (if we get at least 40 players to sign up).
  15. Each doubles play, the individual player must keep their scores on the scorecard. Honesty system rules, but each player must initial all their scores on the Tab Card to be provided.
  16. Match playing will start at the same time for everyone, and will end almost all at the same time. Play starts officially at 8:30 am. Registration at 8:00 am sharp.
  17. Food will be provided. Lunch will be served to everyone at the same time. The objective of the tourney is for everyone to have the camaraderie, fu, socials and get to know everyone in the community..
  18. Drinks (one Gatorade and 2 bottles of water will be provided.
  19. $25.00 registration fee must be received before June 1, 2005 by check or cash. Late payee gets slim chance of playing.
  20. Registration with waiver must be turn in and signed with the payment
  21. Player who scores 96 or higher is the Grand Champion ( Huge Trophy awaits)
  22. Next top four highest Individual scorers will be the runners up representing the letters PRDC (Prominent Player is First Runner Up, Responsive player is Second Runner Up, Dedicated player is 3rd runner up and Committed player is 4th runner up)
  23. The next 10 Individual Highest pointers will be awarded consolation trophies after the top 5.
  24. 3 Lowest scorer gets a PLAQUE.
  25. In case of duplicated scores or two individual receiving the same scores, a single game will be played on a point for point basis. A flip coin will be initiated to award the server. Player who wins the game or socred first will be declared the winner. The losing player, the runner up or the next prize accorded.
