Philippine and Pacific island culture, music and dances in the
DFW community and nationwide.
Zonia
Elvas Velasco was a 2003 GDAACC(Greater Dallas Asian
American Chamber of Commerce) awardee for outstanding achievement
in culture. She has a long history of serving the Greater Dallas
community in the area of education, culture and community service.
She heads three organizations, the Filipino Folk Arts Theater,
Inc., the ZEV Enterprise and the physical therapy clinic Healthprime
in north Dallas. She is an instructor at the Dallas Independent
School Dallas. She has orchestrated about a hundred cultural
performances each year all over Texas and through the Dallas
Cable TV (DCTV). She is also a very active volunteer in KERA
(the DFW branch of National Public Radio) and the Dallas International
organization.
